1. Trent Cotchin became the fourth Brownlow Medalist, alongside Syd Coventry, Dick Reynolds and Michael Voss, to be a dual premiership captain.
2. Dustin Martin won his 2nd Norm Smith Medal, which is an equal record alongside Gary Ayers, Andrew McLeod and Luke Hodge
3. Jack Riewoldt was the first player in 118 years to outscore an entire VFL/AFL Grand Final opposition. The only other player to do so in history was Essendon's Albert Thurgood in the 1901 VFL Grand Final.
4. Marlion Pickett was the first player to debut in front of a crowd of 100,000.
5. Richmond's win was the greatest percentage Grand Final win in VFL/AFL history. Richmond's score was 428% more than GWS'.
6. Australian Football legend Neil Balme as now been involved in nine premierships throughout his career in football as a player, coach and administrator. Balme played in two VFL premierships at Richmond (1973 and 1974), coached another two flags at Norwood in the SANFL (1982 and 1984), and then in his career as a football administrator was involved in Geelong's dynasty of three AFL premierships (2007, 2009 and 2011) and two more as football manager at Richmond (2017 and 2019).
7. Jack Riewoldt's five goals and one behind is the equal highest score kicked by a player in a Grand Final since Jason Akermanis kicked five goals and two behinds in the 2003 decider.
8. GWS' Nick Haynes broke the record for most marks in a VFL/AFL Grand Final with 15.
