Aussie Rules Archive have selected the AFL's Team of the Decade between 2010 and 2019.
Only the players' performances within the space of the decade have been considered, meaning, players who also played in the late 2000s will not receive any extra consideration.
Hawthorn have dominated the 2010s on the field winning three straight premierships (2013-2015) and have been rewarded in this side. The forward line in particular has a strong Hawthorn influence with premiership stars; Lance Franklin, Jarryd Roughead and Cyril Rioli being selected. Former Hawthorn premiership captains Luke Hodge and Sam Mitchell have also earned their places in the team. Although, both players narrowly missed out on the extra captaincy honour, instead longstanding Geelong skipper Joel Selwood was given the nod. Legendary Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson won three of his four premierships as coach this decade and could not be overlooked as the team's coach.
Geelong was the other team who is heavily represented in selected lineup, with the end of their premiership dynasty taking place at the beginning of this decade. Along with the team's appointed captain Joel Selwood, his premiership teammate Corey Enright also made the team. Current day superstars and Brownlow Medalists Gary Ablett and Patrick Dangerfield were playing at Gold Coast and Adelaide respectively during in Geelong's premiership reign, but have too been selected.
Richmond was the only other club to win multiple premierships in the 2010s. Alex Rance was one of the team's first-picked at full back, while dual premiership stars and Brownlow Medalists Dustin Martin and Trent Cotchin also represent the Tigers in the team.
Essendon, Fremantle and St Kilda are without a player selected, as are GWS who missed the first two years in the decade.
